Some partnerships start at a trade fair, this one starts at home. Schwäbisch Gmünd is our founders' home town, and since 1 August, TSB Gmünd Handball, known as the TSB Jets, has been managing sponsorship and players with Paktum. After promotion to the 3. Handball-Bundesliga, Germany's third handball division, the club is now setting the course off the court as well.
Key takeaways
TSB Gmünd Handball has officially been working with Paktum since 1 August.
From now on, the club manages sponsorship and players in one system.
Together with Michael Hieber, we set up match day tasks, player contracts, rights, spaces, inventory and invoicing.
According to the club, the onboarding was completed within a few days.
What we set up with Michael Hieber
Promotion changes more than the fixture list. New opponents, new arenas, often new partners and higher expectations of the organisation. Together with Michael Hieber, head of the handball department at TSB Gmünd e.V. (a registered association), we therefore set up Paktum to take the load off the club in several places at once:
Match days: Tasks for match days and fulfilment are planned centrally instead of being spread across many heads.
Player contracts: The players' contracts sit in Paktum, in the same system as the sponsors.
Rights, spaces and inventory: What the club can market is recorded in a structured way, with allocations per season and protection against double bookings.
Invoices: Paktum creates them automatically according to the payment schedule when they fall due.

“As an up-and-coming club, Paktum is the foundation for us to take the load off our volunteers and create structures. The onboarding was done within a few days, and the interface is so user-friendly that everyone finds their way around quickly,” says Michael Hieber, head of the handball department at TSB Gmünd e.V.
Volunteers need good tools
At a club like TSB, many volunteers keep the sporting side running. If you look after sponsors in the evening after work or organise a match day at the weekend, you have no time to hunt for information across five files. That is exactly why the user-friendliness Michael Hieber mentions matters: a tool only helps if occasional users can find their way around it quickly.
Invoicing is part of this too. Paktum produces e-invoices as XRechnung or ZUGFeRD in line with EN 16931, validated against the official KoSIT rule sets, or hands the data over to accounting tools such as sevdesk, Lexware or easybill. We have summarised what the e-invoicing obligation means for clubs in our post on mandatory e-invoicing for sports clubs.
A partnership with a history
For Patrick Laux, this collaboration is not like any other. Through his volunteer role at LG Staufen, he has had many points of contact with TSB.
“This is a special partnership for me. Through my volunteer role at LG Staufen, I had already had many points of contact with TSB. That makes it all the more rewarding to support the club with its digitalisation now,” says Patrick Laux, founder and CEO of Paktum.

Third division, new routines
With promotion, a new chapter begins for the TSB Jets, on the court and in the office. We are glad that Paktum is part of the team from the start, and we will keep a close eye on how the club's routines develop over the season. Software from our home town for a club from our home town: a partnership can hardly get any closer.
